After tuning is complete, the tanks will undergo a real firing test in Córdoba before leaving for Ukraine, according to reports from military sources, for which only a few details are missing. Its shipment is scheduled for the end of this month or the beginning of April, as the Defense Minister has commented on several occasions.
The six tanks make up the first batch that Spain has delivered to Ukraine, to which a second batch of four other vehicles will be added, which will begin repairs once their updates are complete. The ten leopards are part of fifty stored at army facilities in Casetas (Zaragoza), which have been unused for a decade.
The Ministry of Defense budgeted 4.1 million euros for the Leopard’s development, as stated in the bid contract. An amount that includes the repair of four new Leopards, which will be sent to Ukraine in a second phase, as confirmed by Robles.
In addition to the Leopard, Spain is going to donate a total of 20 TOA armored vehicles to the transport, in addition to another twenty that are already in Ukraine. (if)
