apple today announced That the new 13-inch MacBook Pro powered by the M2 chip will be available for order worldwide starting Friday, June 17th at 5am. Apple said that delivery and in-store availability to customers will begin on Friday, June 24.

Customers will be able to order the new 13-inch MacBook Pro through Apple.com, the Apple Store app, or through select Apple Authorized Resellers.

The new 13-inch MacBook Pro has a similar design to the previous model, including the Touch Bar, with the only notable change being the addition of the M2 chip. Prices in the US start at $1,299 with Silver and Space Gray color options.

Apple said the M2 chip has an 18% faster CPU, 35% faster GPU, and 40% faster Neural Engine than the M1 chip. With the M2 chip, the 13-inch MacBook Pro can be configured with up to 24GB of integrated memory, while the M1 chip is accompanied by a maximum of 16GB of memory. The laptop can also be equipped with up to 2TB of SSD storage.

Apple did not provide an order date for the new MacBook Air with the M2 chip, which is still listed on Apple’s website as “available next month.”

While the new 13-inch MacBook Pro and MacBook Air models come equipped with the M2 chip, one notable difference between the laptops is that the MacBook Pro features active cooling to ensure continuous performance for those with “power flows”. For Apple, while the MacBook Air has a fanless design.
