During today’s earnings call covering the fiscal second quarter of 2022, Apple’s CFO Luca Maestri said the company is growing its installed base. There was a record March quarter for upgrades, and half of all Mac buyers during the quarter were new to the product.
Apple saw strong Mac growth despite supply chain constraints. Apple has struggled to deliver some of its higher-end MacBook Pro models on time, with some users seeing significant delays in shipping estimates.
More recently, Apple introduced Mac Studio with the M1 Max and M1 Ultra chips. The M1 Ultra is Apple’s most powerful Apple silicon chip to date, and is twice as powerful as the M1 Max.
