There’s a new 13-inch MacBook Pro with the M2 chip now available to order Worldwide via Apple.com and the Apple Store app. According to Apple, first delivery and in-store availability to customers will begin on Friday, June 24.
With upgraded storage and memory already in some made-to-order configurations shipping estimates are moving up to early August in the US.
The new 13-inch MacBook Pro has a similar design to the previous model, including the Touch Bar and two Thunderbolt 3 ports. The only notable change is the M2 chip with an 8-core CPU and 10-core GPU. Apple said the M2 chip has an 18% faster CPU, 35% faster GPU, and 40% faster Neural Engine than the M1 chip.
With the M2 chip, the 13-inch MacBook Pro can be configured with up to 24GB of integrated memory, while the M1 chip is accompanied by a maximum of 16GB of memory. The laptop also supports up to 2TB of SSD storage. In line with the previous model, pricing in the US starts at $1,299, with Silver and Space Gray color options available to choose from.
Apple will also release a redesigned MacBook Air with the M2 chip, but it won’t be available to order until next month. One notable difference between the laptops is that the MacBook Air has a fanless design, while the MacBook Pro has an active cooling system to ensure consistent performance for users with more demanding workflows.
To update: In addition to the standard 13-inch MacBook Pro configuration, Apple is now accepting orders for the upgraded build-to-order configuration.
